Second Term, 2024/2025 End of Term News Letter

NEWSLETTER (2ND TERM) 2024/2025 SESSION
The second term of 2024/2025 session has come to an end. Appreciation goes to the Almighty for seeing us through! Here are highlights of events that occurred during the term and those that will take place next term.

HOW THIS TERM WENT

EXTERNAL COMPETITION: Our Junior secondary students sat for the Annual National Mathematics Competition (ANMC) this term after some weeks of preparation. We are delighted that more than 50 percent of the students crossed over the average score line. We know they would improve on this performance next year.

Also the National Science Olympiad Competition preparation started later in the term owing to some set back experienced by the organisers. Our students are eager and ready to put up a fierce competition at this tournament. We appreciate our science teachers for putting all hands on deck for a positive turn out.

EXCURSION: Our students and pupils went for an educational excursion at Omu Resort, Ibeju, Lekki, it was a very interesting and fun filled outing. Learning and exposure started right from the moment we got on the 3rd mainland bridge having a clear view of Lagos State’s Water Transportation services and explorations, to the aesthetic views of the Civic Centre in Victoria Island and a glimpse of the lekki Free Trade Zone and other on-going projects. At Omu Resort, they were exposed to the realities of what they had been viewing on the screen via Nat Geo Wild programs. The Antique Museum gave them the opportunity to view how life was lived in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, it was really amusing to them as they saw gadgets and equipment of those days depicting the means of communication and amusement in the olden days even transportation and vehicle models of those times.
They had several fun rides at the park, they experienced fun at the swimming pool, Water Park and slides, there was horse riding, mini golf, archery etc. Lunch was served with drink and water for a refreshing and eventful day.

VISIT TO THE ORPHANAGE: For the first time in a long desired visit with the students, we eventually paid a visit to the Little Saints Orphanage at Abule egba. It was an opportunity for the children to see, experience the average day of the children at the orphanage and deeply appreciate the love and care given to them at home by their parents. The coordinator gave a brief history about the orphanage and its founder, Revd. Mrs Dele George after which the children were quizzed on the history and they responded perfectly. The students were also given the room to ask questions and responses were provided. It was indeed a nice experience for the children.

We appreciate all the donations that came from you, our esteemed parents in cash and kind, through your children and also those of the staff of the school. It was indeed a good supply and blessing to the orphanage! We trust you’d be willing to give more in future as God gives the opportunity to do so.

LIFE SKILLS SEMINAR:
There will be a seminar for all students for 3 days April 2nd, 3rd & 4th to help instil the knowledge of some basic 21st Century life skills, key for their growth and development in this ever challenging world. A holistically nominated team of individually resourceful external

personnels have been earmarked to anchor this program. We know the students will be enriched at the end of the day.

UP COMING…..

EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS:
JS3 students will be sitting for their Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) next term. Also, Primary 6 pupils will be sitting for the Lagos State Common Entrance Examination and Sapphire Stones College Entrance Examination next term. The scheduled date for the 1st Batch of our entrance examination is Tuesday, May 1, 2025.
COMPLETION OF YEAR 6: Parents should endeavour to allow their children complete Basic 6 education at the primary level. The rate at which parents withdraw pupils from year 4 and 5 these days is overwhelming and calls for a rethink. Research has shown that this abrupt stop to primary education at lower classes, hindering pupils from completing the primary scheme often have adverse effect on the pupils in secondary school. Most of the students struggling to get on their feet at the junior secondary school are victims of incomplete primary education and faulty foundation. They often struggle to cope with the heavy and tasking junior secondary workload and challenges. Maturity must accompany growth to bring out the best in the child.

SCOUTS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA: Scouts activities took place this term with the Founder’s Day Celebration, the Tender foot training and we look forward to attending the 2025 Second Class course this April. We were unable to attend to attend the Founder’s Day 48 Hours Parade and Band Training as a result of various engagements earlier in the 1st half of the term.

SS1 STUDENTS:
Students currently in SS1 class have been placed in their most effective departments by the school management after undergoing the process of identifying where their academic strength and functionality lies the most.

SS1 & SS2: Any SS1 or SS2 student yet to have WASSCE past questions by now is doing so at his/her own peril. It is necessary to buttress that preparation for external examination starts gradually and as early as now, waiting till they get to SS3 is more like a fire brigade approach to the humongous task ahead of both students and teachers.

JS3 EXTENSION CLASSES:
Preparatory Classes for BECE examinations continue next term, however, if there is any need for JS3 students to be in school for their Practical work ahead of the examination, we will communicate accordingly.

PRIZEGIVING/AWARDS RECOGNITION FOR GREAT EFFORTS & END OF SESSION CELEBRATION: As next term is a promotional term and the end of another academic session, we shall be having our traditional end of year ceremony where gifts and awards are given to deserving pupils and students both in academic and co-curricular activities. We shall also be specially celebrating our graduating students and pupils in their different terminal classes. All pupils and students have been billed for it. We shall elaborate more on this at the PTA next term.

SCHOOL BILL: Kindly be informed that at the end of each term, next term’s bill is always included in the examination dossier and our E-Newsletter will be put on the platform for all.

2ND TERM RESULTS: School closed for the children on Thursday 4th April. Management will communicate when students and pupils should be in school to pick up their Examination scripts. Parents are to log unto their children’s portal on the school’s website to check their children’s results as soon as the announcement is made. We use this medium to remind you that both mid-term and end of term results are always on your child(ren)’s login page.
